  • We're at the Yosemite gate, but Hertz Neverlost tells us we still have 33 (very winding) miles to go before we get to the valley.
  • $20 for a week - far cheaper than a Disney Annual Pass, and almost as much to do!
  • Suddenly, the trees have gotten very big. We're entering the Mariposa Grove of gian sequoias inside Yosemite National Park.

  • Grizzly Giant is over 2,700 years old. The large branch jutting out from the trunk is 6 feet in diameter. In the right light, GG strikes me as rather like I'd imagine an angry Treebeard from Lord of the Rings.

  • This is the California Tunnell Tree, cut like this in 1895. Wide enough for a stage coach to pass through.
  • Small and Big. New & Old.
  • Just a valley shot of the Sierra National Forest as we drive from Mariposa Grove to Yosemite Valley.
